Dwarf Petricola Catfish are small, striking Synodontis with a dark brown to black body marked by pale spots and bands. Their contrasting pattern, extended fins and prominent whisker-like barbels make them especially attractive under aquarium lighting. Despite the common name, they are not simply miniature versions of every fish sold as Synodontis petricola; they are a distinct species, Synodontis lucipinnis.

These catfish are active, alert and social, spending much of their time exploring rocks, caves and shaded areas.
